Chapter 3 Touring Thoughtspace
After the installation of all our new abilities, we Baby Essences went on an orientation tour of this other universe Ralph calls Thoughtspace. There is neither time nor distance here. Thoughtspace has existed for all eternity and will exist eternally. Its leader is known to all CIE and Essences as The Creator. This is no "grandfather in the sky with a set of rules you must follow or he will have his revenge on you." That is a purely anthropomorphic view and totally incorrect. The Creator is more "That Which Is" and is both The Creator and That Which Was Created. In English, you humans have a problem using any pronoun for The Creator, as you only have "he," "she," and "it." Since The Creator has no gender, neither "he" nor "she" is appropriate. "It" usually refers to an inanimate object, so that is not accurate if used to refer to The Creator, who is the ultimate in life and cognitive activity. As Ralph explained in the Introduction, we had to make an arbitrary choice and decided to use the masculine pronouns for The Creator and feminine ones for the CIE. Names of Essences The name of each Essence is that name given by the parents when he was a Personality in his last lifetime. If the Essence has a male name from that last past lifetime, he may change it to the female version of the same name, if the present Personality is a female. But, if he chooses, he may use the masculine name instead. Sometimes a Personality will respond better to "someone" with a masculine name, and ignore "someone" with a feminine name. Again, it all depends on what will work best. No Rules in Thoughtspace One basic principle the CIE taught us Baby Essences is, "There are no rules in Thoughtspace." They repeated that mantra over and over again as we sought to question their teachings by referring to the rules of conduct and ethics taught us in our days as Personalities in Physicalspace. Since the CIE use literal definitions of all words, to them, a rule is applicable to all individuals at all times under all circumstances. There are no exceptions, or it would not be a rule. If there are situations where such a rule could or should not apply, then it was not a rule. So they emphasized that there were no rules which must be followed by all residents of Thoughtspace under any and all circumstances. Problem Solving The CIE explained the two choices of methods humans use to solve new problems. One is the Legal Ethics Method and the other is the Situational Ethics Method. They explained that the Legal Ethics Method is the one used by Personalities, but we Essences were always to use the Situational Ethics Method. The Situational Ethics Method requires that we consider all the facts which exist at the time a decision needs to be made. Knowing the facts, what would be the expected outcome of one choice of action over another? We were to advise our charges to take the action which would most likely accomplish the final desired goal. We were not to concern ourselves with what had happened previously with this one person or with someone else with a similar problem. We were not to consider whether an action would make someone else happy or angry with us. Just because an action had been taken by someone famous did not make it right for our charge.
One of the facts we had to take into account was the likelihood of our being arrested for breaking a law of the culture. Unless we were willing to pay the price, such as jail time, we should not recommend that action. Just appealing to the legal authorities that we were obeying a "higher law" was not good enough, if we were not willing to spend some time in jail for breaking a known law. The Legal Ethics Method requires that there be a written book of rules, such as the state Penal Code, which one can refer to in order to find out which actions are "right" and which ones are "wrong." If there is no listing for the action in question, a Personality would get most upset and might go into a panic. Example of the Use of the Legal Ethics Method Ralph saw evidence of use of the Legal Ethic Method the first time Woosie invited him and Marie to come to Japan to present a series of workshops. Marie, a fully integrated Personality, was still dissociated from her Essence, Becky. Therefore, she was always operating as an emotional self while Becky was her intellectual self. When Marie realized that for the first time in her life she would be visiting a foreign country, she immediately asked Ralph for a list of rules of how to behave while in Japan. She could not go unless she was sure of the rules on bowing, giving gifts, and the other social customs. Ralph never worried much about such matters, having found that his hosts and I, his Essence, guided him well in such matters. He could not reassure Marie that all would work out, and she worked herself up into a real panic. She finally bought a detailed travel guide for Japan, where many of the rules she believed she had to follow were written down. She memorized pages and pages of those rules before taking the trip. Example of the Use of the Situational Ethics Method After Ralph had been on the job one week as a staff psychiatrist in the Yolo County Mental Health Service, the social worker in the Davis clinic called him because a patient she was seeing threatened suicide. He was very nervous about his new job, and he had not yet met the social worker. The procedure in the clinic was that, when any patient threatened suicide, the non-psychiatrist staff member must call for a psychiatrist to evaluate the patient and determine if the patient should be hospitalized. The social worker briefed Ralph, telling him the patient was a young lady, a coed at UC Davis, who was despondent because her lover had rejected her and broken off their affair. Her lover was one of her professors at the university. I immediately made contact with the patient's Essence, who told me that she was primarily angry, not depressed. She was angry at her professor for ending their affair, and she had now turned the anger toward herself, causing her apparent depression. Her Essence gave me instructions as to what was needed to get his charge past this risk to her life. As soon as Ralph opened his mouth, I took charge and said to the coed, "You don't have the right to decide when to die! Only God has that right! You have no right to make a decision which only God should make!" The coed looked at Ralph with a shocked and angry expression. Then she yelled at him, "How dare you use the word 'God' with me! I'm an atheist!" She was spitting angry at him for challenging her religious belief system. She continued to harangue Ralph for his insensitivity to her atheistic belief system, getting completely off her previous tack of feeling sorry for herself because her
lover/professor had dumped her. She was now more angry at Ralph than she was at her lover. That was what her Essence wanted me to do, and it worked. She decided that she didn't want anything to do with such a religious nut as this psychiatrist, who made her so angry she could hardly see straight. She decided that she would give up the idea of suicide and deal with her lover in some other way. The social worker was shocked at Ralph's behavior and reported him to the Program Chief, who had hired him. The Program Chief called Ralph into his office and told him that staff members were forbidden to talk of any religion in this agency, because it was supported by taxes. Ralph just sat there and apologized, saying over and over again, "I don't know what came over me. I am so sorry for what I said." By that point, no one seemed to care that his/my outburst had made the coed switch her anger from her lover to him, thus removing the danger of suicide. This was a case where the decision was based only on the facts at hand to me, his Essence, as provided by her Essence. I took over his mouth and made him say things that were completely against the rules of this tax supported clinic. We had saved a life and avoided the expenses of a hospitalization, but no one gave him credit for that. Both of us Baby Essences, Jean-Luis and I, remembered well what happened to us when we violated the rules of conduct of our respective countries. That was why we were no longer Personalities with the bodies of living, breathing army officers. We had broken the rules and had been executed for doing so. We could therefore appreciate the anxiety all humans feel when they are thought guilty of committing a violation of the rules of their society. But we also had heard our learned teachers in Physicalspace talk about the Rules of the Gods, and the Laws of Nature, as if they had even more validity and force behind them than did laws passed by human legislatures. Now we found out there were no rules in Thoughtspace, but all decisions were made on a case-by-case basis, following the principles of the Situational Ethics Method of decision making. With our understanding that we were to use the Situational Ethics Method for new problem solving, we also learned to restrict this method to new problems. An old problem which had been solved successfully in the past by a certain method should be solvable by the same method the next time, all factors being the same. However, that method was now a proper solution only for that specific problem and for it alone. While there were general principles which the CIE followed and expected us Essences to follow, they expected no specific reaction ALWAYS. On the other hand, they never ALWAYS denied any specific method to us. It all depended on the current circumstances. Since we Baby Essences no longer had the ability to emote, we didn't fear punishment or develop pride in getting away with breaking a rule. We were strictly intellectual about the problem at hand and focused on how we could achieve our desired goal. Agape Love Our time there was blissful because The Creator and the CIE exuded only Agape Love toward us. Never did they exude any other state of being. Since they never had the ability to emote, they had always done so to the billions of Baby Essences who had come before us. They were blissful when Essences and their charges were doing well and following their Life Plans. But they were attentive when the Personalities were acting out on the basis of their emotions and exercising their Free Will To Mess Up.
Both Jean-Luis and I had spent our last lifetimes in our respective armies doing what we knew would get us praise from our superiors and promotions in rank. Now I was with the CIE and saw how they related to The Creator and to each other. It was quite a contrast. Supervision by the CIE A group of 150 Essences are supervised by one Spiritual Guardian of the Essences, a CIE. In many human writings, this CIE has been called a guardian angel, and they have shown their power to save lives in miraculous ways many times. Each Spiritual Guardian CIE is supervised by a CIE called the Spiritual Teacher of the Guardians of the Essences. One Spiritual Teacher CIE supervises 150,000 Spiritual Guardians. These Spiritual Teacher CIE spend most of their time in Thoughtspace teaching Essences, both those in training and those between incarnations. Supervising 250,000 Spiritual Teachers is a Spiritual Professor of the Teachers of the Guardians of the Essences. The Spiritual Professor CIE are the Project Managers for whatever projects The Creator wishes to accomplish. The CIE explained they do not have a hierarchy of positions of power, as we had in our armies. Neither the Spiritual Guardian nor Teacher CIE had any interest in being promoted to be a Spiritual Professor CIE. They had been in their same jobs since The Creator created them to supervise the human race on Earth, and they were blissful doing what they were doing. All of them planned to continue as they were for all eternity. They showed no evidence of burnout or jealousy over rank differences. Each of these three CIE of the Human Race has her specialty and an amount of energy appropriate to her duties. The Essence has the least amount of energy at his disposal, and his primary duty is to preserve the existence of his charge. The Spiritual Guardian CIE, with her need to oversee 150 Essences, has a relatively larger amount of energy with which to do her job. The Spiritual Teacher CIE has much more energy than does the Spiritual Guardian CIE and can be called upon to add her energy to that of the Spiritual Guardian CIE, if needed. The Spiritual Professor CIE has an unlimited supply of energy available, so she can add whatever is needed to that of the other two CIE. No problem is too big for the three of them to solve together. The CIE explained that they had never been given the ability to exercise Free Will To Mess Up, as had we Essences and the Personalities. They cannot rebel against The Creator. None of them could ever become a "fallen angel." They wanted us to understand that they were not like robots, just blindly doing whatever The Creator told them to do. Whenever The Creator gave them instruction on what needed to be accomplished, the CIE had a full range of options available as to how to accomplish the task. No method was out of bounds, as whatever might work could be tried. Each human Personality had been given a Master Life Plan by The Creator when newly minted. If all Life Plans were followed, all Personalities would learn, grow, and develop spiritually together. So adherence to a Life Plan was always a major factor we had to consider when making decisions involving humans. Akashic Records The CIE escorted us Baby Essences to several important localities in Thoughtspace where they explained what happened there. The first was the Akashic Records Center, supervised by a CIE named Modam. We visited several different sections of the Center, each operated by a CIE supervised by Modam. In one section they kept all the personal memory files, one for each Personality, for each
incarnation. This would be the main repository we Essences would go to whenever we wanted to retrieve data for our charges to recall. We were not to place certain data in those files, which would exist indefinitely. Unsuitable data included time dated data and physical body data. There are no time stamps on anything in Thoughtspace. So when some event happened had to be related to the reign of certain king or after a regularly celebrated holiday. No memory has a date attached to it, since dates and time are humanly created artificial "facts." Any memory about that one human's body, such as how to ride a bicycle, must be kept in the brain of the human himself. It cannot be stored in the Akashic Records. Since each body used in each incarnation is different, such information would be useless in a future incarnation. We could store the pleasure gained by taking many long bicycle rides and have it reexperienced at a later time. But each time the Personality grows a body, he will have to learn again how to ride a bicycle properly. Modam, the CIE in charge, described the security system for personal memories. The level of security depended on the risk which the recollection of that memory would present to the Personality. Pleasant memories would cause no risk, so we were to code them as available for recall any time the Personality wanted to remember them. No CIE had to give permission for recollection of any pleasant memory. A desire by the Personality was all that was needed to bring back to consciousness any pleasant or neutral memory. But we were to security code traumatic memories in one of three levels. The first level was for those memories with an emotional overlay which would be unpleasant but would not produce guilty or suicidal feelings. Memories of events such as automobile accidents the human had watched might fall into this category, if the human did not feel responsible for the accident. The CIE might permit recollection if such were needed by the Personality. An example might be when the human is asked to testify in court as a witness to the accident. In all such cases, Modam and the supervisory CIE of the Essence would need to give approval for recall, but they usually deferred to the judgement of the Essence, who knew his charge the best. We were to apply the second level of security to memories whose recall would cause the Personality to become suicidally depressed. With such an intense emotional overlay of guilt and/or shame, the CIE would only allow recollection if the person were undergoing therapy by a reliable and talented therapist. Otherwise, the safety of the human would be compromised. We were to use the third level of security for those memories which, if recalled, would cause a catatonic stupor of the Personality and a total loss of functioning. The CIE would never let an Essence return those memories to conscious awareness. The CIE instructed us Baby Essences in how to create "false memories" if the Personality was pressured to produce memories coded in this third level. We could then store those false memories as well, and bring them forward to explain, falsely, how some event occurred. While such a process might be troubling to humans eager for "the truth and nothing but the truth," the Essence would thus protect her charge from suffering a severe emotional reaction which might cause her to become unable to care for herself. Modam also explained how we could bring about a "detoxification" of an unpleasant memory. With the proper preparation, we could have our charge go through new but similar experiences which would then overwrite the unpleasant memories of the past. If one can do it with electronic recording devices, we should be able to do it with our charge's mind and the Akashic Records.
Example Ralph's former MPD patient, Marie, had been raised in Sacramento, the capital city of California. The State Fair located there included a horse race track next to the fairgrounds with amusement park rides for children. After his treatment of her MPD, she integrated all her alter- personalities into her Original Personality but was still dissociated from her Essence, Becky. She had moved out of Sacramento to take a new job elsewhere, but she felt pulled each year at State Fair time to return to Sacramento. Each year she went with a girlfriend and her friend's children to the State Fair grounds. She felt she compelled to repeat this trip every year. But nothing happened to make the urge to return to the State Fair any less the next year. Finally, she asked Ralph to come along with her, and he agreed to do so. That Saturday morning he accompanied Marie, her girlfriend, and the friend's two small children through the gates and accompanied them on several rides. After a few hours, the children were fussy, and the girlfriend decided to leave at noontime. Marie and Ralph drove back to eat lunch at the restaurant next to their motel. She moaned and groaned about what a waste of time it had been. What could we do now with the rest of the day? Ralph suggested they go back to the State Fair grounds and do whatever they wanted to do now that those fussy children were out of the way. Marie finally agreed, and Ralph drove back, parking in the lot in front of the main entrance. They walked through the gates into the fairgrounds. As soon as they were through the gates, Marie spontaneously age regressed to the age of eight. She treated Ralph as if he were her natural father and was gleeful that at last he was going with her on the rides. She told him how lonely it had been each year when he and Mommy dropped her and her siblings off at the fairgrounds while he and Mommy went off to gamble on the horses. They always expected her to take her younger brother and sister on all the rides. She had seen all the other children being taken on the rides by their parents, and she wanted that for herself. She asked Ralph, who was now playing the role of Father, where Mommy was. He struggled to make up a believable story. He told her that Mommy had decided to go to the horse races alone this time. The young Marie accepted his story and took his hand, heading for the carnival rides.. The two of them then rode together on every available ride for the entire afternoon. All the time it was an eight-year-old Marie with her natural father. Finally, when they were watching the livestock auction, Ralph decided that he was too tired to continue and suggested they leave for home. As soon as they walked through the gates and headed for the car, Marie age progressed to her true adult age and asked Ralph, "Why are we leaving? I thought we were going to the Fair!" She had no memory of being at the fairgrounds, apparently having stopped remembering as an adult the moment she had entered the gate hours before. Becky later explained to Ralph that, since he had done such a good job of role-playing Marie's father, all of the unhappy memories of Father and Mother dropping her off while they went to gamble on the horses were replaced by the happy memories of that afternoon with him. Now, when she thinks about her childhood experiences at the California State Fair, she only thinks of the good times she had with her natural father, going on all the rides with him. Marie never again had any desire to go to the California State Fair. Cultural History Modam also showed us the section of the Akashic Records Center where the cultural accomplishments are stored. Here he stores all the inventions, great paintings, musical works of art,
valid scientific theories and other such accomplishments of humans of all regions and eras of the past. If you ever wondered where a great operetta truly exists, here it is. It is not on those pieces of paper with musical notations written on them which are on sale in the music store. When a talented conductor wants to know what the original composer really meant his piece to sound like, he had access to it, through his own Essence, in this section of the Akashic Records. Thus he could conduct his own orchestra to faithfully reproduce the music as the composer intended it to be played. Modam also stores here the records of each culture's beginnings and developments, a social and archeological history which could be accessed by the Essences of professional researchers in those fields of academic interest. Future Discoveries Another section Modam showed us was the place where all future discoveries, inventions and artistic creations are located. These were available to those humans whose Life Plans included making such discoveries or inventions. In some cases, the discovery was considered by The Creator to be so important to human society, He had prepared a backup plan. This required having two humans assigned to discover the same process. If one of these humans chose to exercise his Free Will To Mess Up and refused to continue the needed research activity, the other human would be working on the same problem at the same time. The second one would then discover the process society needed at that time. In some cases, both Personalities followed their Life Plans and made the same discovery, usually only days apart, but in two far separated locations. They had no way to communicate with each other and did not know of the other's efforts. In such cases, the process was named after both humans. This source of all future discoveries is the reason why similar processes and items have been discovered in widely separated parts of the world. Scientific researchers have often made the assumption that some human traveled from one place to the other to give the other human this knowledge. Such a migration theory is unnecessary to explain the existence of similar concepts, inventions and discoveries, all of which benefitted the respective tribes at that time in their cultural development. What really happened was that inspired individuals in both tribes paid attention to the information brought to them by their Essences, information from this part of the Akashic Records. Rehabilitation Centers Hope, our Spiritual Teacher CIE, then escorted us to one of two Rehabilitation Centers in Thoughtspace. She ran Rehabilitation Center #1, which housed the turned Essences and hibernating Personalities of all those who had led criminal lives in Physicalspace, but who had not committed Crimes Against Humanity. Here were the Essences of suicide bombers, for example, who found themselves not enjoying the rewards promised them by their radical religious leaders in Physicalspace. Hope took advantage of this shock to their belief systems and slowly but steadily reeducated them. She showed them the error of their ways so, when they finally did reincarnate, they could fully understand the falseness of the beliefs of religiously oriented terrorists of the future. They will then be better able to block those radical leaders of their culture and protect their fellow humans from dangers posed by false claims of rewards in heaven for destructive deeds done in Physicalspace. The irrationalities of their humanly taught belief systems were constantly pointed out to them, and they were taught how The Creator wanted them to behave. While it would take a long time, in
Physicalspace terms, for this reformation to come about, it was theoretically possible for them to eventually reincarnate. Hope next took us to Rehabilitation Center #2, which is run by Charity, the Spiritual Professor CIE. Here she houses the turned Essences and hibernating Personalities of those humans who had committed Crimes Against Humanity. Here Charity will house Hitler's Essence and the Essences of the major aggressors in World War II, when their time comes. Charity gave us a tour of her center and explained that she constantly teaches them the error of their ways, but she has no intention of letting any of them reincarnate. They have all eternity to try to prove to her that they are now capable of leading socially constructive lives, but she also has all eternity to wait them out. Example Her thinking is similar to what Ralph found in his last employment in this lifetime, at a state prison. Many of the inmates were under the control of the Board of Prison Terms (BPT), which is the parole board. The BPT set goals for each inmate to reach in order to be granted release from prison on parole. But one of the factors the BPT could take into account was the nature of the crime. If it was horrific, that was a mark against granting parole. That was the one factor which could not change, and the inmate had no way of reducing the degree of revulsion the members of the BPT felt when reading his file and learning how he beat his victim to death. No matter how many anger management courses the inmate took or how many academic degrees he earned, the BPT members could still reject his application based upon the horrific nature of his crime. That fact never changed and was a legal reason for refusing to grant him parole. The Nursery for Infant Personalities We Baby Essences had our own dormitory quarters and went to school in classrooms, but there was a special nursery for infant Personalities, run by Hope. Here she cared for those Original Personalities of infants who had been assigned a pair of abusive parents who were hostile to their children from the time of birth. These infant Personalities were all grade V hypnotizable, so they were highly sensitive to the hostility of their parents, making the abusive behavior even more painful emotionally. At some point within the first five years of their lives in Physicalspace, these infant Personalities and their Essences feared bodily death at the hands of their abusers. The Essences then dissociated from their charges and sent them to Thoughtspace to this nursery, where they could be safe while being taught by Faith, Hope, and Charity. After the Essence sends her charge to this nursery for safe keeping, she then manufactures and programs an alternate package of personality traits native to this child to run the body in her stead. This is usually called an alter-personality or "alter," but some prefer to call it a "self" or a "part." Whereas the Original Personality who had been placed in this body had screamed and cried, hoping her parents would meet her basic needs, the new alter-personality would be designed to be passive and undemanding. The Original Personality was too demanding of her mother, and her insistence on being cared for properly jeopardized her physical existence. So a compliant, uncomplaining alter- personality has to replace her, so she could live another day. An infant Original Personality who is sent here in her first six months of physical life is too young to ever be able to return to her body. Her physical body will be operated by a committee of alter-personalities during her entire lifetime. When her current lifetime is completed, the infant Original Personality will be integrated with all the alter-personalities still existing at the moment of
physical death. Thus, all learning from experience is done by alter-personalities, and their various Akashic Records will all be combined in preparation for her next incarnation as one Personality. A different plan exists for an Original Personality who is sent to this nursery when she is between six months and six years of age. She is mature enough to have the capacity to learn how to behave so that eventually she can return to her own body at a future date. She will undergo training in Thoughtspace on how to behave properly when conditions are right for her to resume control of her physical body. The CIE operate what humans consider a preschool and kindergarten for this young Personality. Her stay in Thoughtspace might be 30 to 40 years in Physicalspace time. During that interval, the CIE teach her as good mothers would, and she comes to see them as "my mothers." The CIE give her lessons on proper interpersonal behavior, how to be kind to all she meets, how to avoid insulting anyone, how to honor and value everyone she meets. During this time, she does not have the capacity to emote, so she never gets angry, bored, resentful, or otherwise emotional. That can be seen as the negative side of the training since she lacks any experience in how to best deal with emotional upsets. She doesn't have any, which to you humans might seem like Utopia. All her learning is strictly intellectual. She learns the rules of proper social behavior for the culture from which she came and into which she will return. Some of the training is in a virtual reality environment. Here Faith gives the Personality practice in boarding a car, bus, or airplane. The Personality rides in it in virtual reality, arriving at some destination. There she gets off and enters a shopping center, where she experiences what it is like to be in a variety of shops, meeting many different kinds of people doing different activities. The virtual reality experience is repeated for many different activities the Personality will face when she reenters her body in Physicalspace. The Original Personality waits until all is right before she returns to her own body. Back in Physicalspace, her Essence takes on the job of ISH and creates dozens of alter-personalties over time. Her body grows up and attends school. The CIE endeavor to get her in contact with the proper therapist who can treat her for MPD. He will be guided by the CIE to bring her to a state where the Original Personality can now come back home into her own physical body. All this requires much manipulation of humans by the CIE and the training of a therapist who is willing to work with such a difficult patient. A key goal of treatment is to remove the anger-energy from those alter-personalities who had been designed to contain anger at the abusers. The Original Personality cannot return safely to her body as long as the flames of anger are still burning brightly, any more than her body could return to a burned-down house until the firemen had extinguished all the hot embers. When the proper therapist is located and has a good grip on what to do to make for a safe journey home, the CIE tell the Original Personality that her time is coming to return home, where she will meet a special person who will guide her when she takes over her own body. One type of preparation the CIE consider necessary is to implant in the Original Personality memories of significant events which have happened in Physicalspace during the time she has been absent. The CIE know that all people have clear memories of certain important events in their lives and can immediately recall where they were and what they were doing at the time these events took place. One example is the assassination of President John F. Kennedy (JFK). All Americans who were alive at the time know exactly what they were doing when they heard JFK had been killed in Dallas.
Texas. Therefore, the CIE implant in this Original Personality a "pseudomemory" of where she was and what she was doing when JFK was killed. In that way, when she returns to Physicalspace and the subject comes up, she is prepared to act "normally" and share with the others what she was doing when she heard that terrible news. In actuality, she was visiting the CIE in Thoughtspace, but that subject is not one she is going to share with strangers. The training center where all this work is done is complex and is able to duplicate what she will find at home in Physicalspace. However it is a culture-free environment, as she is not surrounded by other humans who are expressing the unique belief systems of a tribe, ethnic neighborhood, or church. The Great Teacher Both Hope and Charity escorted us to what you humans might call a Think Tank, which is where the "Great Teacher" is located. This is a collection of the Personalities-turned-Essences of all the top experts in all fields of endeavor in all areas of the world, in all eras of time in Physicalspace. They all had completed their assigned Master Life Plans and could have then become Essences themselves. But they had been monitored and taught by Charity while on a different track throughout their lifetimes, as candidates for the Great Teacher. She guided and mentored them as they became experts in their particular areas of interest. When each one reached his final incarnation, he was recognized in his culture as the premier expert in that subject, for that time and place. All others working in that field looked up to him for inspiration and guidance, as he was the best expert in their field of endeavor. Charity is constantly recruiting new candidates for the Great Teacher. Many are invited, but few are willing to take on the challenges required of them to rise above the crowd. It is hard and lonely work, and they are fragile human Personalities who hurt when they are rejected by friends and peers, many of whom do not like anyone to stand out from the rest of them. But Charity persists and is always training about ten Personalities in various places at any one time. These Personalities will eventually become part of the Great Teacher, when they finish their last incarnations. Example Ralph and I had a lifetime in northern India, where he was a wealthy merchant with many wives. .The first one he wed, whom he left in charge of all the wives and male workers when he was away, has reincarnated into the body of Dorothy [not her real name], a local woman. She attended a course Ralph gave on this material in San Luis Obispo, California. In this lifetime, she had organized a bank and several successful businesses, all on her own. Her problem now was that, in spite of her obvious abilities in business, she felt inadequate without a husband. She had divorced her latest husband, but he was now trying to convince her to remarry him. He expected to be the one who would decide how they would use the money they both earned. Charity met her and invited her to be a candidate for the Great Teacher. She was qualified, having been excellent in a number of endeavors in many past lifetimes. But, since she felt incomplete without a husband living with her, she refused Charity's offer. Charity told her, "I expected you to say that. You refused my offer in your six previous lifetimes." Dorothy then remarried her exhusband and went on her own way, exercising her Free Will To Mess Up instead of following her Life Plan. When I first became Ralph's Essence, members of the Great Teacher included Socrates, Plato and Aristotle. Others who are now there include Jesus, Muhammad, Einstein, John F. Kennedy,
Princess Diana, Frank Sinatra and Abraham Lincoln. Jimmy Carter will join the group when he ceases to exist. New ones are being added all the time, after they cease to exist in Physicalspace. Collectively, they are advisors to Charity and to the other CIE as they figure out the best ways to deal with the problems inherent in a human race which includes emotionality and the option of exercising Free Will To Mess Up. Whereas Essences have all lived human lives somewhere at some time, the CIE have not. All members of the Great Teacher have lived human lives and used their best talents to succeed as humans. So they are the experts who advise Charity and other CIE on how to best manage the problems you humans keep creating for yourselves. They have not wasted the talents they gained in their very productive lifetimes. They are still using their experiences and knowledge to give the CIE the best ideas to pass on to the Essences of humans alive today. Chain of Command Charity explained that, while there is no hierarchy among the CIE and Essences, as is common in human organizations, there is a proper chain of command to follow. Whenever a Personality's Essence has a question or complaint to make, she should take it to her respective Spiritual Guardian CIE, such as the one called Faith. If her answer is not acceptable, she can take it to her respective Spiritual Teacher CIE, such as Hope. If her decision is not acceptable either, she can then take it to the Spiritual Professor CIE, such as Charity. Her decision is final. Charity's only supervisor is The Creator, whom she can call on if she wishes. But most times, The Creator is quite busy with other matters. The CIE worship and adore The Creator, but they do not want or approve of worship of themselves by any humans. In many cultures, the CIE have been known as the lesser gods, and humans have worshiped them as gods. The CIE do not want that behavior by humans they supervise. The CIE are doing what they are supposed to do and do not believe they should receive any thanks or praise for just doing their jobs. If the members of a culture persists in worshipful behavior, they may find themselves in serious difficulties. For this and other mistakes, many cultures have disappeared from the Earth, leaving only their relics behind. Example Becky told Ralph how this appeal mechanism worked in her case, when Marie, her charge, was newly integrated. Marie fell in love with a younger man, Sam [not his true name], and wanted to make him her second husband. While dissociated, she had previously married Eddie [not his true name], a psychopathic brutal man who made her married life horrendous. They divorced before she started treatment with Ralph. Now she had met Sam, who was a patient attending the same Mental Health Day Care Center with her. He was even more obnoxious than Eddie and several years Marie's junior. But she fell in love with him, as prescribed by her Life Plan. The reason was that, as an MPD patient, she made many mistakes in social judgement while dealing with problems while dissociated. She usually solved them by making more alter-personalities. Once she had integrated, she had to face the same types of problems again and solve them in socially appropriate ways. To allow her to do this, her Life Plan included her meeting and falling in love with Sam, who was as bad a male human as had been Eddie, if not worse. Faith, Becky's Spiritual Guardian CIE, was responsible for finding Marie's mates, so she asked Becky to have Marie fall in love with Sam. When they decided to marry, Becky was unwilling to accept the idea of this marriage taking place. She pleaded her case to Faith, saying, "I just went
through the mess of a marriage to Eddie, and I don't like the idea of doing it again with Sam. Please call this marriage off." Faith told her, "This is what is needed, and you know that. Go back to Marie and help her cope with it in a proper way." Becky could not accept Faith's decision and appealed it to Hope, her Spiritual Teacher CIE. Hope gave her the same decision. Becky persisted in her objection and appealed to Charity, to no avail. Charity told her that the greater good required this course of action, so she had better do her part, as this marriage was going to come into being. At the same time, the Essence of the Presbyterian pastor whom they had chosen to marry them had his doubts as well. He, too, objected to his Spiritual Guardian and Teacher CIE, and both turned him down. His final appeal was also to Charity, his Spiritual Professor CIE, and she gave him the order, "Get on with this wedding." So he returned to the pastor's Personality and told him to plan for the wedding. Like it or not, all his spiritual advisors had demanded he perform the ceremony to make this one really Odd Couple. So he did.
